Our Ethic

Our aim here at Three Trees Farm is to breed and raise top quality animals that produce succulent, full-flavoured meat. Our ethic rests on the theory that happy, stress-free animals produce a more tender, higher quality meat. With this in mind, here at Three Trees Farm we strive to ensure all our animals are traditionally reared allowing a high quality life in a low stress environment. This maximises a happy living environment for the animals whilst also producing meat of the highest quality. A win-win situation in our eyes.

All our animals are reared slowly using traditional methods producing higher quality tasting food. By growing and selling meat locally we are lowering the food miles that your meat has travelled resulting in an environmentally and eco-friendly product that has been naturally grown.

The Butchery

We have a modern cold room and butchery room inspected and certified by the Environmental Health Department at Swindon Borough Council. Our butcher has many years of experience and is expert at producing prime cuts of very high quality. We pride ourselves in ensuring all our premises are kept clean and hygienic and our products are kept at a safe chilled temperature. We also deliver all products in our refrigerated van to ensure your meat arrives in perfect condition.

Farm Shop

We are intending to open our own Farm Shop in Chiseldon in early 2012. Please see the news page for the latest updates on how this is going.

Our Animals

Three Trees Farm Cattle

Cattle:-

On our farm we have bred a herd of Simmental cows that are traditionally reared in a natural environment. The Simmental breed originates from the Simmen Valley in Switzerland where they grazed the low meadows of the Alps, and have been bred in the U.K. for the past 35 years. Our cattle are grass fed and free to roam the fields on our farm throughout the spring, summer and autumn months. During the colder winter months they live in a warm barn and are fed farm grown hay.

Sheep:-

We also have a flock of approximately 50 Lleyn sheep roaming the fields at Three Trees Farm. The Lleyn breed originates from Wales and are noted as being exceptional mothers producing healthy, lively lambs.

Pigs:-

All our pigs are naturally reared with free-range access to areas of woodland on the farm. This ensures the pigs are kept in their natural environment where they can enjoy rooting and foraging in the soil. We have a selection of traditional breeds of pig here at Three Trees Farm.

We raise Gloucester Old Spots, known as the oldest spotted pedigree breed in the world and notable for producing wonderful tasting pork and bacon. Alongside the Old Spots we also raise Saddlebacks that are easily recognised for their striking black colour and white "saddle" stripe around their middles. The Saddlebacks are notable for being good mothers with excellent temperaments and produce succulent, tasty pork.
